Students and Fee Structure
The college is affiliated to Panjab University, Chandigarh and granted a unit of 100 students for each session, segregated in 4 semesters. The fee charged from each candidate is strictly according to the rules and guidelines of the affiliated university.
House System
The Students from all the Sections are divided into four houses :
Kalpana Chawla House
Sarojni Naidu House
Kiran Bedi House
Mother Teresa House
The purpose of the house system is :
To provide platform to the students for self expression
To instil leadership qualities among students.
To motivate students to shoulder responsibilities.
To Understand the concept of team spirit and health competition
Each house functions under the charge of team of teachers and different interhouse competitions are organised time to time all over the session.
Tutorial Group
To provide intimate personal contact with teachers, each student is assigned a tutor whose duty is to guide and remove the personal and academic difficulties of their respective wards. All the students are divided into tutorial groups of about 13 students each. The tutorial period is an integral part of the time-table. Along with the intimate interaction between students and teachers, this period will also provide an opportunity to each student to equip herself with necessary teaching skills of chalk board writing, preparing teaching aids etc.
College Magazine
The college magazine ‘DEVKI JYOTI’ is published every year to provide opportunity to the budding writers to exercise and display their creativity. The magazine consists of Hindi, English, Punjabi Sections. The selection of the student editors for each section is made on the basis of written test followed by the interview.
Student Progression Programme
To equip our students with the ability of attempting the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) sucussfully, we organize education Olympiad at the end of the session, in which quiz is conducted based on the syllabus meant for TET. The winners are awarded the cash prize and all the students are given guidance and motivation to prepare themselves fully for the TET.
Remedial Test and Remedial Teaching
By careful analysis of the students’ performance in the examination and diagnosing the areas of difficulty, remedial teaching is providing to the students. Necessary guidance is given to the students which helps them to overcome their problems. Remedial Teaching is not revising the topics repeatedly, the problem relating to different subject and concerned topics are taken into consideration and clarified by the concerned teacher. Students are given tips for the better attempt in annual examination.
Daily Test
To build the confidence and to improve their writting skills daily test are organised. Students are divided into a group of 20 each are alloted with one or two questions and they prepare for the two questions and they prepare for the same.They are evaluated and reurdeal steps are also taken.This technique helps mush to prepare for funds exams and reducing stress and anxiety of exams.
Book Bank
The college library is equipped with upto 7000 books and 21 reffered journals. It has a book bank facility in the form of donation section. Needy and deserving students are provided with books for the whole sessions through this service. This section is maintained with the co-operation of faculty and the students of the college to help the student to prepare for the same.The institutions involves in the placement of the students directly as well as individually.
Multi Dimensional Period
For the development of various skills that lead pupil-teachers to gain proficiency in technology, lesson planning writing, specially EBO, PK Testing, BB work etc. methodology classes are held. House meetings to plan for the coming week and Saturday special activities are also part of this period.
